CROWDSOURCING AS AN APPROACH FOR REFINING A PRODUCT DESIGN CONCEPT AND RAISING MARKET AWARENESS
After having had the brainwave for a new disruptive application of a known technology, our company faced the need to stimulate user awareness of the new solution and collect inputs for refining the initial concept. Our innovators chose to implement a crowdsourcing approach to achieve this twofold objective.
OPEN INNOVATION TO THE RESCUE
A mature high-tech Swedish manufacturing firm partners with a major customer/distributor to adapt the SME's flagship technology for application in a new market. This open innovation collaboration gives the struggling company a new lease of life and staves off certain bankruptcy.
INNOVATING ITS WAY OUT OF THE FINANCIAL CRISIS THANKS TO MULTIPLE EXTERNAL COLLABORATIONS
To overcome the financial crisis of 2009-2010, a Danish engineering company turned to a national technology institute to assist with developing a new prototype for a CNC machine tool and changed its business model thanks to collaboration with a university economics department. Today it has spun off its new business with the help of investors and is addressing foreign markets through a new network of agents and distributors.
HOW OPEN INNOVATION CAN LEAD TO A CHANGE IN BUSINESS FOCUS

Thanks to these different collaborations, the company was able to change the focus of their business, from gaming to urban planning 3D visualization, and helped reshape the company's strategy to implement their vision "Co-Design by Playing".
